The brief, to design a home phone, was quiet loose and mainly about styling. Inspired by contemporary architecture for the shape of my phone and the materials drawn from the materials used in interiors, I created a visually engaging object that integrates well in a stylish interior. The reason I chose this design language, other than to create a dynamic design, is that it has not yet been applied to consumer electronics. Shortly after I graduated, Nokia and other leading mobile phone companies have published phones with a similar angular design language which before has only been seen in architecture and furniture.
The docking station can be placed anywhere in the house or is preferably wall mounted in the house entrance. On getting home, you will hang your keys on the key-hook and see immediately whether you have any messages. Using the belt clip you can carry the phone around the house.
This saves you from having to look for the phone when it is ringing. When leaving the house, you take the keys from the station in the entrance and thus are reminded to leave the phone to charge.
